IPL 2025 Mega Auction : Kohli and Siraj Set to Be Retained by RCB Ahead of Auction – Report

Kohli and Siraj Set to Be Retained, Maxwell Likely to Be Released by RCB Ahead of Auction

IPL 2025 Mega Auction: All 10 IPL teams must submit their retention lists for the 2025 season to the BCCI by 5 PM on October 31. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), one of the most popular franchises, is among the teams in the spotlight. Fans are curious to see which top players, including Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell and others will be retained by the team.

Virat and Siraj Expected to be Retained

A recent media report reveals that RCB is likely to retain both Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj for the upcoming season. Their retention seems almost confirmed, though several international players might be let go.

Glenn Maxwell, who only managed to score 52 runs in 10 matches last season and took just 6 wickets with the ball, is expected to be released. Although RCB may have considered retaining Australian all-rounder Cameron Green but his current injury status complicates the decision. Whether the team will take a gamble on Green despite his injury remains to be seen. Additionally, Will Jacks, who scored 230 runs for Bangalore in IPL 2024, is also rumored to be released.

When is the Auction?

Another recent report claims that BCCI has selected Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as the venue for the IPL 2025 mega auction. The auction is tentatively scheduled for November 24 and 25. However, with the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia starting on November 22, it will be interesting to see if BCCI reschedules the auction or holds it after the day’s play concludes.
