As the IPL Mega Auction 2025 gets closer, Rohit Sharma’s future has become a hot topic of discussion. The Mumbai Indians have a critical decision to make regarding whether to keep their former captain or release him for the auction. Last season, they appointed Hardik Pandya as captain, who returned to the team from the Gujarat Titans. Former Mumbai Indians player Harbhajan Singh has now shared his thoughts on Rohit’s IPL career.
Harbhajan Singh’s Take on Rohit Sharma’s Auction Potential
Harbhajan Singh, Rohit’s former teammate and ex-Indian cricketer, believes that if Mumbai Indians do not retain Rohit, he could attract a considerable bid in the IPL auction. In an interview Harbhajan stated, “It will be interesting to see if the Mumbai Indians choose to retain Rohit. If he goes into the auction, many teams will make strong attempts to sign him.”
Harbhajan Singh added, “Rohit is an outstanding captain and an exceptional player. He has led the Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles. Even though he is 38, he still has plenty of cricket left in him. If he enters the auction, there’s a chance he could receive a substantial bid.”

IPL 2024 Was Challenging for Mumbai Indians
Rohit Sharma has guided the Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles, a record in the league. However, in IPL 2024, he was replaced as captain, and this change did not work out well for the team, as they struggled and finished last in the league standings. Fans were also quite displeased with the decision to appoint Hardik as captain, leading to him facing boos at the Wankhede Stadium.
