Rishabh Pant gets out at 99 in Bengaluru Test vs New Zealand

Rishabh Pant gets out at 99 in Bengaluru Test against New Zealand

Rishabh Pant dismissal on 99:  Team India has made a strong comeback in the Bengaluru Test match. After trailing by 356 runs in the first innings, they have taken control against New Zealand. The Indian batsmen performed well in their second innings, with Rishabh Pant playing a great knock after Sarfaraz Khan. However, Pant fell just one run short of a century, getting out for 99 runs. As the day came to a close, New Zealand’s bowlers made a comeback. Now, on the final day of the match, New Zealand needs to chase down just 107 runs to win. At one point, it seemed like Team India would be able to set a big total on the board, but then something happened that changed the direction of the game.

Rishabh Pant missed a century by just one run

Rishabh Pant once again became the team’s hero in a tough situation. In the match against New Zealand, he scored 99 runs off 105 balls, hitting 9 fours and 5 sixes. This was the seventh time Pant has failed to convert a score of 90 or more into a century. Previously, he had been out for 97, 96, 93, 92, 92, and 91 runs in Test matches.

Fifth Indian Batsman to Be Dismissed for 99 Runs

This is the first time in Rishabh Pant’s Test career that he has been out for 99 runs. It’s also been 12 years since an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman was dismissed for 99 runs. The last time this happened was in 2012 when MS Dhoni was run out for 99 runs against England. Now, after 12 years, Pant has experienced the same thing. He has become the fifth Indian batsman to be out for 99 runs in Test cricket, joining Dhoni, Murali Vijay, Virender Sehwag, and Sourav Ganguly.

Team India wiped out the 356-run lead

In the first innings of this match, Team India was bowled out for just 46 runs. However, they played impressively in their second innings. By the time of the tea break on the fourth day, Team India had scored 438 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, taking a lead of 82 runs. If they can post a good total, they could win the match.

India lost 7 wickets for just 54 runs

The fourth day was quite exciting, with Team India dominating for almost two sessions. The day started well for Team India with Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant at the crease. Both players displayed excellent batting, and starting the day at 231 runs, they took the team’s score past 400. However, after that, Team India lost wickets one after the other. Sarfaraz Khan was the fourth wicket to fall when the team’s score was at 408 runs. After his dismissal, the Indian team could only add 54 more runs and was all out for 462.

New Ball shifted momentum towards New Zealand

After 80 overs of Team India’s innings, New Zealand was given a new ball, as per the rules of Test cricket. The change in the ball impacted the entire match. The Indian batsmen struggled to handle the new ball effectively. By the time New Zealand received the new ball, India had scored 400 runs and lost only 3 wickets. However, after the introduction of the new ball, Team India could manage only 62 runs, leading to their total of 462 runs and giving New Zealand a target of 107 runs to chase for victory.
